LOVE LOST IN TIME..............

I didn't cry myself to sleep that night,but i lay awake for hours.Something had come abruptly to an end .I knew that even then.There is a special conceit that lovers share ,as though their happiness makes the superior to the rest of the world.We felt protected by our love, almost immune.Yet there was an early awareness that our love,like any other love,was" two solitudes that bordered and saluted each other."I remembered a discussion we had,lying peacefully in each others armsWe were separate human beings,strong and vital,who had chosen each other because life was fuller that way.And we knew that if something happened to one of us the other would go on.And then i remembered we stopped and stared into each others eyes.The thought of having to survive without the other was deeply disturbing but not frightening .We never said,"But nothing will happen", maybe we never thought of it but we wished it.
